Out of the box, the 105 Combo feels noticeably lighter and simpler than iRobot's mid-range models -- the plastics are thinner and the single bristle brush is a clear cost cut. iRobot finally brought LiDAR to the budget tier, though, and the systematic row-by-row cleaning is leagues ahead of the random-bounce robots that dominate under $200. The automatic carpet detection for mop avoidance is a thoughtful inclusion at this price. But 1,500Pa suction is painful -- fine for surface dust on hard floors, genuinely inadequate on any carpet with pile. Ideal first robot vacuum for a small apartment with mostly hard floors.
